Paul Hampton

Actor-musician Paul Hampton made a splash in Hollywood both on and off-screen for almost half a century. Early on, Hampton mostly landed roles in various films, including the Howard Miller musical "Senior Prom" (1959), "More Dead Than Alive" (1969) with Clint Walker and "Wusa" (1970). He also appeared in the Diana Ross biopic "Lady Sings the Blues" (1972). He also appeared in the TV movie "Black Water Gold" (ABC, 1969-1970). Hampton also contributed music to "My Mother the Car" (NBC, 1965-66). His film career continued throughout the seventies in productions like "Private Duty Nurses" (1972), the crime feature "Hit!" (1973) with Billy Dee Williams and "Shivers" (1975). He also appeared in "Dimboola" (1979). Hampton's music was also featured in "A Perfect World" (1993) with Kevin Costner, "The Butcher Boy" (1998) and "Clay Pigeons" (1998) with Joaquin Phoenix. His music was also featured in the Janet McTeer comedic drama "Tumbleweeds" (1999). Hampton's music was most recently featured in the musical drama "Country Strong" (2010) with Gwyneth Paltrow.
