River Butcher

Rhea Butcher carved out (no pun intended) a notable corner for themself in the world of comedy in the early 21st century. Born in Akron, OH, Butcher moved to Chicago in their early twenties to pursue a career in comedy. They quickly became a member of Second City's improv troupe, and began performing standup at a number of the city's comedy clubs, with much of the act focusing on such topics as vegetarianism, feminism, their love of baseball, and other experiences. In 2013, Butcher started the successful podcast "Put Your Hands Together," before making the jump to television. They made their late-night debut with a 2016 set on "Conan" (TBS, 2010-), and soon scored recurring roles on the reality TV parody "Bajillion Dollar Propertie$" (Seeso, 2016-), and the educational comedy series "Adam Ruins Everything" (TruTV, 2015-). 2016 proved to be a breakout year for Butcher, as they released their debut standup album, simply titled "Butcher," on Kill Rock Star records, as well as co-created and starred in the sitcom "Take My Wife" (Seeso, 2016-) alongside real-life wife and fellow comedian Cameron Esposito.
