Roger Nygard

With a resume that boasts directing, editing, producing, and writing credits on high-profile titles in both film and television, Roger Nygard is one of the entertainment industry's more versatile off-screen talents. His first foray into motion pictures came in 1991, directing the comedy "High Strung." The movie stars Steve Oedekerk as an irritable and agoraphobic writer, and also features appearances by Jim Carrey and a fresh-faced Kirsten Dunst. Despite its lack of availability on popular home video formats, the film still maintains a loyal cult following. The work he is probably best known for is the 1997 documentary (sometimes called a dorkumentary) "Trekkies." Detailing the personal and unusual ways fans of the "Star Trek" television series and films express themselves, the film straddles the line between surreal and disturbing. Nygard followed this up in 2004 with "Trekkies 2," but failed to recapture the critical acclaim or popularity of the original. Between its 2007 and 2009 seasons, he edited nine episodes of the HBO comedy series "Curb Your Enthusiasm," starring and created by "Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David.
