Whom the Gods Would Destroy
When a middle-aged Oxford graduate is found dead near his run-down Oxford house-boat, Detectives Lewis and Hathaway are thrown into a delicate murder case which implicates one of the University’s most prominent figures – college Principal and likely Vice-Chancellor, Sefton Linn. But as Lewis and Hathaway discover, Linn was not always so respectable. As an undergraduate, twenty odd years earlier, he was a member of a hedonistic group of friends who titled themselves ‘The Sons of the Twice Born’ - and with the dead man, Dean Greely, being part of this mysterious group...nothing is as it seems.
