Peter Martin, the son of a respected doctor who often ministered to the less fortunate, is found at the bottom of the stairs in his home with his neck broken. His sister does not believe the medical examiner's conclusion that his death was accidental, and hires Mannix to find out if he was murdered, and if so, by whom.
