While on a short-term mission to track an infiltrated Maquis cell, Capt. Kathryn Janeway and her newly launched U.S.S. Voyager crew -- and the Maquis fighter crew -- are drawn 70,000 lightyears to the far side of the Delta Quadrant by an alien seeking survival, calling itself "the Caretaker." As the Voyager and Maquis crews forge a tentative bond of survival, Janeway decides to cut off the escape route homeward to deal with the aggressive Kazon-Ogla, the Ocampa's devastated world, and the "Caretaker" who blames himself for it.

Transferred to the psych ward, Michael tries to clear Haywire’s head and jog his memory of the missing piece of the blueprint tattoo; Bellick wants to auction off Michael’s cell to the highest bidder; C-Note and T-Bag must team up in a high-stakes poker game, while Sucre’s cousin Manche seems to hold all the cards.

Lt. Severide (Taylor Kinney) is reminded of his own past by a man he saves from a car accident (guest star W. Earl Brown) and feels compelled to help him. Elsewhere, Lt. Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) grapple with how to dock Jones (guest star Daisy Betts) per her father's orders. Meanwhile, Mouch (Christian Stolte) and Dawson (Monica Raymund) have troubles with the opposite sex and an emotional call to duty creates ripples throughout Firehouse 51.

Dr. Sara questions if she should leave a light on and the door open for Michael, who must betray the Pope in order to carry out his escape plan. Veronica finds evidence that points her to Montana, but realizes that her closest ally may actually be her greatest enemy. Michael, Lincoln and the other inmates make a break for it, but after the alarm is sounded, find out who will make it over the wall, who will be left behind and who will leave the prison in a body bag.
