Sheila Larken

Sheila Larken is most known for her role as Margaret aka "Maggie" Scully, mother of F.B.I. Agent Dana Scully (played by Gillian Anderson) on the sci-fi drama series "The X-Files," produced by Larken's husband, R.W. Goodwin. In one of the major plotlines, Maggie had a premonition that her daughter, Dana, would be kidnapped, but was afraid to tell her at the time. When this actually turned out to be true, Maggie later confessed her premonition to Dana's partner on the show, Agent Mulder, played by David Duchovny. Larken started her career in recurring roles on two drama series. On the first, "Medical Center," starring Chad Everett and one of the first TV medical dramas to become popular, Larken played a nurse for seven episodes. The second series, the short-lived drama "Men at Law," was about a nonprofit law firm in Southern California--Larken played one of the associates. She had a very small role in another medical drama, this time a made-for-television movie that came much later in her career, "Behind the Mask." This film, based on the life of a Canadian doctor, Robert Shushan, starred Donald Sutherland as a doctor who is saved by one of his patients after having a heart attack; the two form a father-son type of bond as a result.
