Sheldon Simeon
Chef Sheldon Simeon became a celebrity when he competed on Season 10 of the hit reality series "Top Chef" (Bravo, 2006-) in 2012. Born in Hawaii to Filipino parents, Simeon always had a passion for cooking, pursuing his interest first at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific and later at Maui Culinary Academy. Simeon even won a coveted internship at Walt Disney World, but it was his stint on "Top Chef" that made him a familiar face outside the kitchen. He was a finalist on the series and won the show's "Fan Favorite" award. He would go on to serve as the executive chef at upscale eateries in the Maui area, such as Mala Wailea and MiGRANT, and even turned up on TV again in 2015, with an appearance on a Hawaii-centric episode of "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown" (CNN, 2013-). In 2016, Simeon and his wife Janice opened their own restaurant, the Hilo based mom-and-pop operation Tin Roof, where Simeon could focus his culinary attention on the Filipino influences of his family with fresh, local seafood. In 2017, Simeon competed on "Top Chef" a second time in a season that brought back past competitors to cook alongside rookies. Simeon made it almost to the end, but was eliminated in the penultimate episode.
