Born on mainland China, Simu Liu and his family immigrated to Canada when he was just five years old. After graduating in 2011 with a degree in Business Administration and working a professional services firm Deloitte & Touche for a brief time, Liu decided to devote his attention to acting. His first screen appearance came in a guest role on the action series "Nikita" (The CW, 2010-13) based on the film "La Femme Nikita" (1990). A few more guest roles and a recurring role on the police procedural "Blood and Water" (OMNI, 2015-) kept Liu busy until he landed his first series regular role. In 2016, Liu premiered as the estranged son of a storeowner on the show "Kim's Convenience" (CBC, 2016-). During the same period, he made his first appearance as a major recurring character on the action series "Taken" (NBC 2017-), a prequel to the successful film franchise.
