Stephen Cragg

Although some Hollywood TV directors are able to work in a number of different genres, most successful ones specialize in one form of programming or another. For Stephen Cragg, that genre has always been the one-hour drama. It started very successfully with director and producer duties on "Doogie Howser, M.D." from 1989 through 1993. Since that time, Cragg has worked on dozens of different entries, culminating in the late 2000s with 14 episodes of the NBC Thursday-night juggernaut "ER." Other medical series work encompasses "Grey's Anatomy" and "Chicago Hope." He has also, though infrequently, ventured to the sitcom side with shows such as "The Wonder Years." He has never been recognized with an award for Best Directing, but he did share in a 1986 Emmy for Outstanding Miniseries for his work as a producer on "A Year in the Life." Prior to focusing on directing, Cragg produced several other TV shows, including the dramas "Walking Tall" and "Street Hawk."
