Toru Uchikado

American-born Japanese actor Toru Uchikado made his Stateside television debut with a recurring role on the highly anticipated superhero series reboot "Heroes Reborn" (NBC, 2015-). Born in New Jersey, Uchikado relocated to Yokohama, Japan as a young boy. He had developed an interest in acting from an early age, but decided to follow his creative instincts through business, which he pursued as a major at college in Tokyo. While there, Uchikado briefly returned to North America to further his studies in Missouri and Toronto, where he was encouraged to hone his English skills. He accomplished this with a combination of acting classes and watching American television series like "Friends" (NBC, 1994-2004). During this period, he also gave his first screen acting performances in a handful of student and independent films. Uchikawa then returned to Japan, where he completed his degree before deciding to focus on acting as a career. He moved to Los Angeles in 2011, where he continued to develop his dramatic skills while supporting himself through various odd jobs. In 2014, he made his American television debut when he was cast as Ren Shimosawa, a vlogger and video game aficionado that added Miko Otomo in her quest to rescue Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), a character from the original "Heroes" (NBC, 2006-2010), from imprisonment inside of a virtual reality video game.
