Masquerading as a polished gunfighter with a dishonorable discharge from the Army, James T. West arrives in Quemada, New Mexico, in a plush private railroad carwith orders from President Ulysses S. Grant to quell the terrorist activities.

Marilyn's boyfriend invites Marilyn and her family to a masquerade party.. Lily is Little Bo Peep, Grandpa is Napoleon, and Herman is dressed in armor. At the end of the night Herman with a prize for wearing a Frankenstein costume under his suit of armor. Lily and Grandpa feel insulted because that is Herman's real face!

Marilyn complains because she has been unable to sleep for the past two nights and Grandpa promises to mix her a sleeping potion. As he works in his laboratory, Marilyn stops by to ask for the mixture. In his haste, Grandpa mixes the wrong formula and gives Marilyn the Sleeping Beauty potion by mistake.

Unable to persuade Tony to marry her, Jeannie decides she needs a mother's counsel. She blinks her eyes and Mama appears. Mama assures Jeannie Tony will change his mind if he thinks Jeannie is going to marry Roger. Tony asks Roger is he has met Jeannie's parents. Then Dr. Bellows announces he has bought the lot across the street. Roger asks to meet Jeannie's parents. She produces a house on Dr. Bellows' lot. Tony sees Dr. Bellows and General Hadley approaching the lot. Responding to Tony's pleas, Jeannie makes the house vanish. General Hadley and Dr. Bellows see Tony sitting in the weeds sipping tea. Making the house reappear, Jeannie produces parents for Roger's visit. Tony comes to the house and forbids Jeannie to marry Roger. Then Dr. Bellows drives up. Seeing the house, he becomes distraught, and runs to Tony. As the house disappears again, they see Roger sitting in the weeds. The following day, Roger tells Tony he found himself wandering around a vacant lot. When he returned to apologize, Jeannie and the house were gone. Smiling at Jeannie, hiding in his desk drawer, Tony assures Roger he will let him know if he ever meets Jeannie again.

Lisa says that woman in her family must marry an American every fourth generation to keep the huge ring she now wears. She regales Hooterville with the story of her great great grandmother the Queen of the Gypsies and her courtship of an American artist Cornelius. Much stealing and dancing is involved.
