In a genealogy book, Chris discovers that he has an African-American ancestor. Meanwhile, when the Peterschmidts come to visit, they reveal a secret and bribe Peter to keep it quiet. But after Peter accepts the bribe, he makes a harsh realization.

One of the key differences between the twins comes to light when Tia comes home with an honor roll bumper sticker. Ray begins chatting with Tia about her academic interests, and they're soon bonding over a common love of history.
