Wheeler Oakman

Wheeler Oakman was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Oakman's earliest roles were in film, including the William Farnum western "The Spoilers" (1914), the Priscilla Dean crime picture "Outside the Law" (1921) and "Half Breed" (1922). He also appeared in the western "Hey! Hey! Cowboy" (1927) with Hoot Gibson, "Lights of New York" (1928) and "The Goodbye Kiss" (1928). He kept working in film throughout the thirties, starring in the Tim McCoy western "Two Fisted Law" (1932), "Silent Men" (1933) and "Man of Action" (1933). He also appeared in "Soldiers of the Storm" (1933). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in "Timber War" (1936), "Batmen of Africa" (1936) and "Song of the Trail" (1936). He also appeared in "Gambling With Souls" (1936) and "Brick Bradford" (1948). Oakman was most recently credited in "Brenda Starr, Reporter" (2011). Oakman passed away in March 1949 at the age of 59.
