Earp returns to Wichita to find a crooked gambler has been given a saloon license by his deputies. Murdock wants the license revoked as Earp's desk is found to contain a $300 bribe framing Earp who has to give up his Marshal badge.

General Sherman asks Earp to intervene with the Nez Perce tribe and Chief Joseph about reclaiming a Gatling gun stolen by Nez Perce. Earp and Mr. Cousin head west to contact Chief Joseph but a militia made up of land grabbers stop them.

Earp must convince a disgraced Army captain that he holds no responsibility for Gen. Custer's devastating loss at Little Big Horn, but angry newcomers with a group of captive Indians seek to take revenge on the captain for the defeat.

A robbery starts a series of events that lead Johnny Ringo to kidnap Judge Spicer to release his cousin Charlie Parks from jail. Although Parks is innocent, Ringo's actions may make matters worse as Earp pursues the guilty parties.
