"Family Law" centers around Abigail Bianchi, a high-paid personal injury lawyer who's good at blaming others -- particularly when it comes to her own problems. After Abby's husband kicks her out of the family home because of her drinking, she goes on a bender, shows up drunk in court. The law society's punishment is swift. She's suspended, fined, and can only practice law again if she finds a senior lawyer who is willing to take her on and mentor her for a one year probationary period. Only one man is willing to take that risk: Harry Svensson, who runs the top family law practice in the city. He also happens to be Abby's estranged father, who left Abby and her complicated mother for his secretary when Abby was seven. Thus begins the odd dynamic at Abigail's new workplace. Abby has to try to put her shambles of a life back on track, all while working under the thumb of the man she's spent a lifetime resenting.

Abigail and Daniel represent Ira, who wants his wife, Helen, moved from a care home that he claims is worsening her Alzheimer's. Since his daughter holds power of attorney and she doesn't want Helen moved, Ira must challenge her in court. But the more the lawyers witness, the more Ira's motivations are called into question.

When adjusting to life back at home doesn’t go as planned, Nicky (Olivia Liang) turns to Henry (Eddie Liu) for help in her hunt for Zhilan (guest star Yvonne Chapman). Meanwhile, as Jin (Tzi Ma) looks forward to life getting back to normal, Mei-Li (Kheng Hua Tan) isn’t as optimistic. Finally after lending a hand to a young woman in need Nicky finds the mental clarity she desperately needs. Shannon Dang, Jon Prasida, Gavin Stenhouse and Vanessa Kai also star.

Nicky (Olivia Liang) and Henry (Eddie Liu) follow a lead involving a professor who may be able to help in their search for Zhilan (guest star Yvonne Chapman). Meanwhileas Althea’s (Shannon Dang) past comes back to haunt hera squabble between Jin (Tzi Ma) and Mei-Li (Kheng Hua Tan) points to bigger issues in their marriage. Elsewhere, Nicky steps in to help a young worker after learning of some suspicious activity happening at King Kwong’s garment factory. Jon Prasida and Gavin Stenhouse also star.

Zhilan (guest star Yvonne Chapman) joins forces with Kerwin Tan (guest star Ludi Lin)and Jin (Tzi Ma) and Mei-Li (Kheng Hua Tan) find themselves at a crossroads. Jon Prasida, Vanessa Kai and Tony Chung also star.
