A Young Doctor's Notebook

Russia in 1917. A young doctor who has just finished medicine school is sent to a remote village in the middle of nowhere to manage a hospital. His first patient arrives at the first night: a peasant woman who goes into a complicated labor.

The young doctor gives up his dreams gradually. His ambition to make medical discoveries has been frustrated after fighting against a syphilis epidemic among hostile peasants with no education. His spirit remains intact until a brutal surgery occurs.

The hospital surrounded by snow affects the young doctor's life. His effort to deal with boredom and isolation are in vain. How much time is he going to stand? After two terrible cases, he can't resist the temptation of morphyne.

It is very difficult for the young doctor to hide his addiction before his colleagues. After a series of some humiliating events, he decides to start over and makes an effort to fight against syphilis epidemic. He has to face up to his worst fears.

The young doctor is desperately trying to replace his depleted morphine supply and turns to cocaine.
