Black Blood Brothers

It's been a decade since the sacred war between humans and vampires. The rise of the Kowloon Bloodline, a new breed of monsters bearing an infectious bite, set the streets ablaze under the reign of their king. Humanity had never witnessed such pure, animalistic brutality. Today, a freighter sails steadily onward towards the Special Zone, a place where vampires live freely in peace alongside humans, the troubles of the past long forgotten. Jiro Mochizuki and his little brother hide on board, stowaways hoping to jump the border to safety. But they soon find their ship under attack by the Suppression Team of the Order Coffin Company, the soldiers attempting to destroy any and all illegal vampiric refugees stashed away at sea. Unfortunately for them, that also includes Jiro and Kotaro, and the brothers are unwittingly caught up in the chaos.

Making their way to shore at long last, Jiro and Kotaro are unexpectedly rescued by Mimiko, a Compromiser, another member of the Company, but this one interested in promoting peaceful co-existence rather than simply eliminating the black bloods. Offering to act as their guide, the threesome is not long on their way when Kelly Wong, leader of the vampiric refugees, approaches, hoping to recruit Jiro to their cause. But before any decisions can be made, the Suppression Team makes another appearance.

With great difficulty, Jiro is battling the Kowloon Children, only a few remaining. But worn out as he is, the vampire alone may not be up to the task. Despite the Company's policies against such, Mimiko offers up her blood so that he may regain enough power to rescue his brother, hostage of the Kowloon. As the fight takes to the streets, Jiro, Mimiko and Kelly chase after the renegade refugees, hoping to stop their progress before they can make it across the border and into the Special Zone.

Jiro and Kotaro have finally made it into the Special Zone, no small thanks to Mimiko. But they soon find their welcome less than promising. With his reputation as the vampire who fought against the Kowloon, hero of the savage wars, the presence of the Silver Blade has raised quite a bit of interest. The Company wonders if he can be recruited, the vampiric leaders ponder his intent even as they test his skills, and all the while Jiro and his brother haven't even found a place to live yet.

A rogue attack on Jiro leads to an invitation to meet with Zelman Clock, leader of one of the three houses. He invites the brothers to stay and join forces with him, before they become enemies. As such is not likely to happen, Jiro sets off in search of another vampiric house to join, but much to Mimiko's chagrin, every door is closed to the Silver Blade. It seems he attracts too much trouble. As they call it a day and head back to the Compromiser’s apartment, an explosion proves just how much trouble Jiro can attract.
