Eighteen-year-old Anna Gibson becomes a Bride of Christ. As Sister Gabriel, she will join an order of nuns who live disciplined lives cut off from the outside world.

Anna takes care of the daily demands of Lynns life. We see her coming to terms with an alien world and trying to remember everything her father taught her about running a mill.

Miserable Sister Dominic returns from the hospital to find that Anna is still away. Meanwhile, Hal accompanies Anna to a wool auction to buy a suitable stock for traditional yarns.

An elegant figure boards the shuttle train to London, painfully aware of the stares she receives from men. She also impresses the bankers at Maynard Gideon, unaware that she is a nun.

Lynns baby girl is safely delivered and Anna finds the experience immensely moving. Daniel returns with a bottle of champagne for a midnight celebration.

Beatties efforts at sabotage continue and it begins to look as if the mill will not be ready by the time the Japanese arrive. Walter and Hal combine forces and are determined not to be beaten.
