Scott loves taking his skiff, Serendipity, out on the lake, but now that summer is over his adoptive dad thinks Scott should be studying more.

After leaving his father and setting out on his own away from home, Scott falls in with a gang of drug dealers in the city.

Brett takes to the road to find Scott. Along the way, he hitches a ride with a few of the drug dealers Scott worked with and visits Uncle Cam before continuing his search for his brother.

Brett hitchhikes to the Williams' farm where Scott now works. Brett tries to convince him to come back home, but Scott can't take it anymore.

Brett tries his hardest to convince Scott to come home, but Scott decides to stay on the farm. Meanwhile, drug dealers are on their tail.

The two dope dealers kidnap Brett, holding him for ransom for the money that Scott still owes them.
