Ted Turner’s early years are marked by his complicated relationship with his father—whose business Ted takes over in the wake of the elder Turner’s suicide. While expanding into radio and TV, Ted throws himself into his greatest love: sailing.

In the 1970s, Ted buys the Atlanta Braves, launches a SuperStation, sails to an America’s Cup triumph, and plans a 24-hour news network: CNN.

In the 1990s, the Gulf War showcases CNN and its intrepid reporters; meanwhile, Ted works to preserve land and save the bison.

Ted navigates two huge corporate mergers but must also deal with the fallout from the AOL-Time Warner deal and his split from Jane Fonda.
