Aichi Sendou is a timid boy in his third year of middle school. He had been living his life looking backward but he had one thing that kept him going - the "Blaster Blade."

Vanguard of Destiny!
Kids from all over town converge to play Vanguard, a new card game. Aichi Sendou is a shy boy with Blaster Blade, a rare card, who just started playing this game.
EPISODE 2
Ride to Victory!
After Aichi plays Blaster Blade, he and Kai recall the time when they first met. Back then, after seeing Aichi beaten up, the young Kai cheered him up by giving him Blaster Blade.
EPISODE 3
Welcome to Card Capital
Concerned for her brother, Aichi's little sister Emi secretly follows him to the Card Capital. She is astounded by all the people playing Vanguard there, including Aichi, Morikawa and Izaki.
EPISODE 4
Assault! Twin Drive!
After taking a look at Aichi's deck, Shin decides to show him "something nice." Shin has Aichi battle Misaki Tokura, who has never participated in a Vanguard fight despite working at the card shop.
EPISODE 5
Whirlwind! Kamui, the Grade-School Fighter!
Aichi goes to the card shop to buy a booster pack in the hopes of getting a Grade 3 card. When he arrives, he sees that Kamui Katsuragi is convincingly defeating Izaki in a cardfight.
EPISODE 6
The Mysterious Card Shop!
Aichi finds a card shop called PSY and try out a special Vanguard fight stage there.
