Jackson Brodie (Jason Isaacs, Harry Potter) is a former detective turned private investigator in Edinburgh in these mysteries based on Kate Atkinson's acclaimed novels.

Brodie gets a couple of new cases in quick succession. The first is for two sisters who want him to investigate the disappearance of their younger sister 30 years ago. The other case involves the distraught father of a murdered daughter.

Jackson decides to help a mysterious seductress find her niece, all whilst dealing with the knowledge that his ex-wife is moving to New Zealand with his beloved daughter.

On an early morning run along the coast, Brodie spots a woman's body in the water but is unable to prevent it from floating out to sea. When the police appear less than enthusiastic about investigating, Brodie decides to do it himself.

Louise, Marcus and Jackson arrive at Martin Canning's house where they discover a body battered to death, resulting in Martin pleading with Jackson to be his bodyguard.

When Will There Be Good News?
While investigating his latest case, Jackson is badly injured and sent to the hospital after witnessing an elderly woman's car veer off the road onto the railway tracks.
EPISODE 6
When Will There Be Good News, Part 2
When Jackson is released from jail, it triggers a connection in the Joanna Hunter case, and he learns that the husband knows more than he has been willing to admit.
