The smiting duo are assisted in their endeavours by Mina Harker, a beautiful, blind concert pianist with mysterious powers. And caught up in the action is Ruby, Luke’s best mate, who’s keen to get in on the smiting game despite nearly losing her life before she’s even begun. Thrip kidnaps the unsuspecting Ruby and uses her as bait to lure the young Van Helsing to a disused warehouse.

Six-year-old Madge might think her sister’s been “taken up to heaven by an angel” but Galvin suspects otherwise. Everything points to half-life involvement and he thinks it’s the perfect project for Luke. A visit to the cadaverous Father Simeon (Richard Wilson) confirms Galvin’s suspicions.

Meanwhile Luke and Galvin reach a dead end in the sewer… Galvin bashes the wall in frustration – what’s going on? ‘Allow me to explain’ comes a voice from above. Galvin looks up, standing on the gantry is Mr Tibbs. It slowly dawns on Galvin, the water levels are rising - they’ve walked into a trap.

Meanwhile, Quincey is preparing to use Galvin as bait to capture Luke, the biggest prize in the half-life. Quincey’s plan works – Luke comes to rescue Galvin with Mina’s help. Quincey goes for Luke – the beginning of an epic fight.

Mina and Galvin investigate news of a strange murder in the capital. Mina’s abilities give her terrifying visions and she begins to fear for Luke’s safety. When a symbol Mina ‘sees’ is identified as that of vengeance and Galvin gets wind that the half-lives are fleeing town, he knows that something serious is up.

Galvin and Mina must tell Luke the painful truth and make him see that Thrip is not his ally – but will he believe them? The battle for Luke’s trust takes place in an abandoned warehouse but as Thrip has already proved by returning from the dead, he is not an easy opponent.
