Sgt. Joe Friday (series star Jack Webb) and his partner, Officer Bill Gannon (co-star Harry Morgan), break up an LSD party and track down a suspect who has been selling the drug to teen-agers. Michael Burns guest-stars as Benjie "Blue Boy" Carver, an 18-year old "pusher" who not only provides the drug which produces weird hallucinations, but also uses the "acid". Carver first encounters the law when, painted up garishly, he is arrested at a vacant lot with his head buried in the ground. Earlier he had been reported chewing bark form a tree. His well-to-do parents (Robert Knapp and Eve Brent) are indignant with the police but later learn the hard way of LSD’s destructive effects.
Sgt. Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Gannon (co-star Harry Morgan) must find 400 pounds of stolen high-velocity dynamite set to go off somewhere in Los Angeles. Their investigation leads to suspect Donald L. Chapman (Don Dubbins), a neo-Nazi and hate-monger, who readily admits the theft. Chapman, however, refuses to divulge where he has the explosives rigged but hints his aim is to bring integration plans to a halt.
Sgt. Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Gannon (co-star Harry Morgan) track a young gunman who has two hostages in a car. Suspect Donald Albers (Ronnie Rondell) takes a cosmetics manufacturer and her secretary Janet (Peggy Webber) for a "ride" after successfully getting Janet to withdraw $75,000 from a bank while he held her boss at gunpoint. But Albers forgot to consider Los Angeles' freeway traffic in his plans.
Sgt. Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Gannon (Harry Morgan) are assigned to investigate an armed robbery in which a fellow policeman is a prime suspect. Officer Paul Culver (Kent McWhirter) had been a member of the Los Angeles Police Department for only 114 days. He was working undercover out of the Narcotics Division when a liquor store near where he was operating was held up. He fit the description of the holdup man as given by an eyewitness.
Sgt. Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Gannon (Harry Morgan) working out of Robbery Division, search for armed thieves specializing in holding up cocktail lounges. The gang of four, always disguised in bright red masks, had successfully knocked over six bars in as many weeks. The only clues on which to work were the masks and a report that in each case the get away car was an old black Cadillac.
Sgt. Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Gannon (Harry Morgan) are out to halt a pair of con artists who are bilking elderly citizens out of their life savings in "The Bank Examiner Swindle". Two confident men have a widespread operation in which they pose as state bank examiners. They ask their intended victims to help them catch a crooked bank teller in a unique scheme, which included drawing money out of savings.
