After dying while protecting his village from attackers, Ged is brought back to life by a wizard who takes him as an apprentice.

Following his resurrection, Ged is shipped off to a school of magic. When the fabled Amulet of Peace is broken, Ged is the only person who can restore the balance of Earthsea.

Ged continues his fight with the shadow monster and arrives at the tombs of Atuan. Meanwhile, King Tygath is planning to let the evil out.
