Radio DJ Lindsay has to fake it as a club DJ after pretending to rival Topher that he knows how to mix and scratch records. Discovering that it's not as easy as he thinks, he's saved by the appearance of a teenager in reception, looking for a job and clutching a CD of his own club mix. Lindsay gets the CD off the teenager, Ades, but has to pay him back by giving him a job as a runner. Meanwhile, co-host Dom's boyband past rears its head when a butter company want to use his hit 'Spread Your Love' in their ad campaign. Dom's excited about the money on offer, but first he has to persuade his fellow boybander Tim to agree. This is made difficult by Tim's ongoing resentment that Dom slept with Tim's mother when they were younger.

Dom has gone AWOL. He's late for the show and Lindsay has to present the show with Ades as his co-presenter, which doesn't go well. Finally Dom turns up and it transpires that after one of his legendary nights of excess he woke up on a tour bus on a ferry in the middle of the Irish sea. Jane is furious and she challenges him to give up drinking. Dom agrees, as long as she gives up smoking. Deal. Jane forces Dom to go to an addiction support group, but this backfires because Dom has a great time entertaining the group with his stories of his drunk antics.

The next day, Jane forwards Dom and Lindsay them an email from Ladyhawke, saying she's excited about coming on the show despite the recent death of her best friend. Lindsay sends a funny but very offensive reply – and hits 'reply all' by mistake. Ladyhawke arrives and wants to check her emails. Lindsay is terrified and steals her laptop. When she realises it's gone missing she's distraught, and her manager's angry as it had her new album on it. The police are called, bags are checked, and people look suspiciously at Jane, as everyone's heard about her kleptomaniac past.

Lindsay is feeling sore after losing an award to Topher at a radio awards event the night before. What's more, there are rumours that Topher has been dating the presenter of the award, Konnie Huq, who Lindsay has a huge crush on. Lindsay has managed to secure himself a lunch date with Konnie's PA, Gemma. The others tease him about failing to go for who he really wants, but he protests that he really likes Gemma.

The team go to a gig after the radio show. Lindsay is approached by a TV producer who’s desperately looking for a presenter for a TV pilot she's filming the next day, and she asks Lindsay if he'll do it. Lindsay is excited by the idea of making the leap to TV, though he’s worried when Topher says he needs to 'find his look' as TV is a visual medium. Lindsay has grown a beard, which the others have been mocking.

Jane has been asked to programme a stage at a music festival, which she's very excited about. At a gig, she tries to sign up a new band, but finds they've already been signed up by a woman called Alex Middleton, a rival producer who Jane knows of old, and hates of old. An annoying band plugger, Tiswas, tries to interest Lindsay in a new band called the Faroe Islands. Lindsay isn't interested until he sees their lead singer, a stunningly beautiful young woman, Sky. Lindsay chats to Sky, falls completely in love with her, and agrees to play her songs on his show.
