Great Games: All-Star

The American League and National League face off in a pitching duel for four innings of the 1980 All-Star Game until Fred Lynn crushes a two-run homer. The NL would take the lead for good in the 6th.

The 1986 All-Star Game resulted in an American League win that ended the National League's streak of winning the last 13 of 14 All-Star Games. Lou Whitaker and Frank White homered in the AL's 3-2 victory and Roger Clemens was named MVP.

The National League battles back twice late in a thrilling victory, highlighted by clutch hits from Fred McGriff and Moises Alou. The 1994 MLB All-Star Game was the first NL win since 1987.

At Fenway Park, Pedro Martinez starts the 1999 All-Star Game with a bang, striking out five of the six batters he faced. He also received Most Valuable Player as the American League wins 4-1.

At the 2000 All-Star Game, Derek Jeter and Chipper Jones both go 3-for-3. The American League scores three insurance runs in the top of the 9th inning to secure their 6-3 victory over the National League.

In his 19th and final All-Star Game, Cal Ripken Jr. hits a home run to lead the American League to a 4-1 victory over the National League. The 2001 All-Star Game was also the final game for Padres right fielder Tony Gwynn.
