Intertwined
Available on Disney+
The plot of the musical TV series Intertwined (aka Entrelazados), as the title suggests, has many interconnected layers. Teenager Allegra (Carolina Domenech) frequently argues with her mother Caterina (Clara Alonso), who doesn't support her musical theatre ambitions. She sneaks out of her house to audition for the Eleven O' Clock theatre company's production of Freaky Friday, a musical whose plot echoes Allegra's disconnect with her own mom. Allegra wants to follow in the footsteps of her estranged grandmother Cocó (Elena Roger), who starred in the lead role of Freaky Friday many years ago. Caterina finds out about Allegra's audition and forces her to leave, and they get in a car accident while arguing on the way home. Devastated that she caused her mom's accident, Allegra throws a dance trophy into her bedroom wall and discovers a glowing bracelet hidden within. The magical bracelet transports her to 1994, where she befriends the teenage version of her mother (Manuela Menéndez) who is a performer in the Eleven O' Clock company. She gets to eavesdrop on the arguments her teenage mom has with her grandmother, and finds them eerily familiar. Can she travel between 1994 and the present to fix her relationship with her mom, and maybe even help reconnect her grandmother with her mom in the process?
