John Utterson, an upstanding citizen and attorney, happens upon the aftermath of a violent attack on a young woman by a man whom witnesses describe as depraved and monstrous. The identity of the hideous criminal is Edward Hyde, a man with connections to Utterson’s friend, the imminent biologist, Dr. Henry Jekyll. What is the connection between the respected scientist and the sadistic madman?

Still reeling from his tense encounter with the unnerving Edward Hyde, attorney John Utterson learns of the murder of ex-politician and naval officer Sir Edgar Carew. Numerous clues lead to Edward Hyde’s houseboat. When Utterson confronts Dr. Jekyll with the evidence of Hyde’s violent depravity, Jekyll swears to sever his ties with Hyde.

Still doggedly pursuing the truth, John Utterson interviews a visibly disturbed Dr. Lanyon regarding a strange encounter with Edward Hyde. Although Lanyon refuses to give details about the horrifying transformation he witnessed, his distress is enough to send Utterson to Jekyll’s laboratory, where he finally persuades the doctor to confess to his complicity in Hyde’s criminal rampage.
