When Victor Salazar's family moves from rural Texas to Atlanta, he is hopeful that his new, big-city school will be a safe place for him to explore his identity and make a fresh start. On Victor's first day at Creekwood High, however, he realizes that it might not be that easy after all, and he reaches out to Simon for advice.

After news of his Ferris wheel ride with Mia, Victor has an unexpected brush with popularity at school. He attends his first Creekwood party and has to decide who he really wants to be.

Determined to figure out his feelings, Victor asks Mia out on their first real date, but his cute date idea wasn't what either of them expected. Felix tries to win Lake's heart at Battle of the Bands. Pilar finds out something shocking about her mother.

Victor and Pilar decide to get to the bottom of what happened between the mysterious Roger and their Mom back in Texas. Mia meets her Dad's new girlfriend, but she's not what Mia expected. Things come to a head at Victor's basketball game, where the truth comes out about why the family had to move away from Texas.

Trying to ease tension at home, Victor decides to let his family throw him a birthday party. The peace is threatened when Benji and his boyfriend meet Victor's old-fashioned grandparents.

Victor is nervous when Mia makes it clear that she wants to take their relationship to the next level.
