With Winnie expecting another baby, Mandela's constantly being shuttled from one safe house to another. Running out of money, Mandela takes a risky trip abroad to raise funds for the ANC.

The rise of the Black Consciousness Movement threatens both Vorster’s reign of the country and Mandela’s position in the ANC.  Winnie joins forces with Steven Biko as talk of her questionable behavior with torturing young men, seen as traitors, begins to circulate. Oliver grows ill just as Mandela is finally released from prison. Mandela’s liberation does not come without cost as he is unable to reconcile his marriage.
