3rd year med student Dave works with anesthesia on elderly patient who chooses to be frozen but remain awake throughout bowel surgery. Hospitals can have a strict social pecking order so 3rd year med student Alyson is surprised when she and her friends are invited to a staff doctor's birthday party. 2nd year med student Karen is juggling marriage, motherhood and med school.

3rd year resident Monali is training to become a general surgeon but tonight she looks after the hospital's sickest patients in the Intensive Care Unit. 2nd year med student Karen starts clerkship with a rotation in paediatrics.
