Porterhouse Blue

Fictional Porterhouse College in Cambridge is an anachronism; its students are uniformly male and privately educated. When the Master dies of a stroke, the government appoints as his successor an old graduate, the politician Sir Godber Evans. Evans returns to his alma mater determined to drag this bastion of privilege into the 20th century, but the elderly academic staff close ranks against him.
