This episode introduces our motley handi-capable crew and their bizarre living arrangement. Reilly, an able-bodied drunk is hit by a car and finds himself a quadriplegic drunk. The guilt-ridden driver, wealthy Mort Bromberg, buys Reilly the mansion next to his own, much to the horror of Mort's social climbing wife, Liz. Reilly fills his new home with other differently-abled roommates -- Fontaine, Lefty and Blazer.

Perpetually low on cash, Reilly and the gang make several fairly honest attempts at finding jobs in the “real world” with no success. Lightbulb!! Rent out the luxurious Maimed Manor for weddings, parties etc. They’re raking in the money, until their next booking gets the address wrong and trashes the Bromberg mansion next door!

In her desperate attempts to climb the social ladder, pretentious Liz Bromberg holds a Telethon to raise money for “unfortunate gimps.” Liz and Blazer become allies as they exploit the magnificent severed on national television for personal gain. Liz and Blazer end up being the ones who are exposed.

A suave visitor, Eduardo enters their severed lives: he’s a Latin Love Quad, Man of the World, Chef, Healer, Environmentalist, and so much more. He wins the hearts of all, especially Franny -- much to Reilly’s chagrin. Reilly is obsessed with proving Eduardo to be a fraud.

Reilly’s battle with sobriety is challenged over the Christmas holidays, especially with Griz constantly tempting him. But when Reilly falls off the wagon -- and LOSES Blazer in a bad part of town, he admits his problem to a very supportive Franny.

The Handi-Capable Home Show is back in town, with hi-tech gadgets for every disability. Lucky Reilly ends up with the Life Wheel 3000, “the wheelchair for tomorrow’s cripple, today” -- with every bell and whistle imaginable. But “GAL” also wants total control over Reilly, cutting him off from his friends; the severed's "intervention" to save him results in a battle that turns GAL into a hunk of molten metal.
