Ross Kemp Return to Afghanistan

Ross arrives in Musa Qaleh where he'll be living with Delta Company, 5 Scots for nearly a month. He's only just landed when he's told to pack his bags for their longest operation yet, north into the Taliban controlled green zone. Just 30 minutes on the ground and Delta Company are caught in the middle of a well orchestrated Taliban ambush.

Delta Company and Ross are in a compound and surrounded by the Taliban. If they stay they could be overrun; to move out means risking all by walking into another ambush. Using the tall maize as cover they silently extract themselves from the compound only to face the British soldiers' second enemy in Helmand Province; heat.

Musa Qaleh is home to the Royal Irish who are training the Afghan National Army. Ross joins them for a day as they patrol the town only to be forced to leave due to the presence of suicide bomber. The next day they head south of the town to one of the strategically important patrol bases in the area. Here they come under intense enemy fire as they fight their way to the cover of a compound.

Ross visits some of the unsung heroes of the conflict, to hear extraordinary stories of courage from those who have suffered life-changing injuries on the battlefield. He then travels back to Afghanistan, first to its capital, Kabul. Here he meets the British Ambassador, who in the shadow of an infamous Taliban landmark used for executions, describes why Britain is committed to the conflict.
