Sarah Williams gives up her London job and lifestyle to help with her family's veterinary practice in Yorkshire, but moving back means dealing with new babies, old flames, and a family secret that caused her to leave years before.

As Sarah had feared, her family begins to depend on her to keep the clinic afloat. But her temptation to run back to London rather than admit the truth about the past runs strong. Meanwhile, Tom keeps a secret of his own.

Sarah tries to make modern updates to the clinic, but she gets distracted by the attentions of an old flame. Anna is furious that her new stepmother, Claudie, is clearing out her late mother's possessions.

While the rest of the family worry about Claudie and George's shopping and "siestas," Tom is feeling the pressure. With a newborn baby, an unwelcome visitor, and an illicit secret, he fights to keep his head above water.

The vets attempt to move forward, but Sarah focuses on news from her ex, and Rick is at the end of his rope in his marriage to Deborah. Old loyalties and new opportunities clash, threatening the stability of the practice.
