When the actress Valerie Fox starts working at Jay's show, they fall deeply in love and start a romantic relationship. But this could be in jeopardy when Jay criticizes Valerie's performance in her latest movie.

Jay tries to show the world that he can be warm and affectionate by showing up with his mother on TV. The program is a complete failure because he cannot find any positive thing to say about her.

During a show at Marty's school, Jay falls in love with a young and charming Cuban called Carmen, unaware that she is actually an obsessed fan ready to make him her prisoner.

As part of an effort to make Jay more likable, Geraldo Rivera interviews Jay and Eleanor, but a confrontation during the interview only makes the situation worse.

Eleanor forces Margo to attend a debutante ball, to which Jay accompanies her; meanwhile, Jay's show is losing viewers to a children's show called "Humphrey the Hippo."

Jay celebrates his 1000th episode, but it is a complete failure. The rating drops even more and Jay resorts to a stylist. But the strategy also fails and Jay is dismissed.
