The Crown's Ancient Forest

The New Forest National Park in Southern England is a 150-square-mile patchwork of ancient woodland, boggy mires, gentle farmland, and the largest area of rare lowland heath in all of Western Europe. Originally established as a royal hunting ground by William the Conqueror, it is now a wonderful haven for British wildlife, including wild ponies, rare goshawks, and fallow deer.
