Victoria is about to get engaged to Manuel in her native town Paracuaro, but she meets Gabriel and her world revolves completely. Her morale is torn between following her true love, or paying attention to the requests of her mother, Mrs. Brígida.

Gabriel sets fire to a big part of Paracuaro's farming and the population demands justice. Victoria suffers a terrible contempt in the village, due to the madness of Gabriel, and she has no choice but leaving to carry on with her family.

Victoria and her family come to Ciudad Juarez looking to start a new life. The modern border is far from the michoacano field, so Victoria must adapt herself quickly to raise her children.

An upset old lady uses Alberto to earn a living on the streets. Meanwhile, his family looks for him desperately before the possibility that he may be dead. When Alberto returns home, they all promise to take care for him better.

Alberto has been surviving the obscurity of his family for two years. Life has been difficult for him and it has been hard to adapt himself to the discipline and violent conditions of the Court. However, he manages to befriend a good mentor, Juanito.

After escaping the Court, Alberto is rejected by his mother but convinces Juanito to be received at his home, provided he earns a living honorably. So, he looks for Virginia and helps her to sell burritos on the street.
