Throughout their school years, Gary Wallace (John Asher), a cocky but cowardly misfit and his only friend, computer genius Wyatt Donnelly (Michael Manasseri), sweet, lovable and shy, have been the butt of heartless pranks. When they are humiliated by school bullies on the first day of a new semester, they decide to retaliate. That night, with the combination of Frankenstein on television, a fierce electrical storm raging outside, and some inexplicable electrical interference, Wyatt feeds into his computer their combined choice of statistics and succeeds in creating their "PC genie" named Lisa (Vanessa Angel), a smart and beautiful woman whose mission is to grant the two boys' wishes.

Terminal boredom overcomes Gary (John Asher) in history class, so he summons Lisa &(Vanessa Angel) and asks for her power to fast-forward life to the fun parts. She adapts the video remote to control time as though it were a video machine. Gary commandeers the remote to fast-forward his dates to the goodnight kiss. Then he meets Donna (Amy Leland), who likes him but talks a lot, so he fast-forwards her chatter. Meanwhile Wyatt (Michael Manasseri), who is tied into the wish with his friend, is jerked through time as Gary operates the remote at will.

Amy (Genia Michaela), a studious and pretty girl, shows interest in Gary (John Asher) from a distance, until their first meeting. The virginal but hormone-driven Gary realizes that he must be brainier to impress her, so Lisa (Vanessa Angel) transports Albert Einstein's brain (Steve Suskind) in a bell jar full of formaldehyde. Armed with the brain hidden in a fried chicken bucket, Gary has Dr. Einstein attempt to lead the conversation in his next meeting with Amy, but the good doctor's archaic language confuses her. Lisa provides Gary with a tiny TV showing what Amy sees, and the boys discover Amy has been looking at Wyatt (Michael Manasseri).

Both boys dream of being in bed with Lisa (Vanessa Angel). They are afraid of her power, especially Wyatt (Michael Manasseri), but summon her anyway with a list of requests, most of them sexual. She explains that it would not be in their best interest to grant these requests since she is their "perfect woman" and would destroy them for any real woman. Also included on the list is a request for a birthday gift for Gary's mother, Emily (Joyce Bulifant). Lisa gives Gary (John Asher) a small box with instructions that Emily should make a wish before opening it, and her wish will come true. She also grants Wyatt's wish that Chett's (Lee Tergesen) insults would turn on him, causing Chett's head to shrink, flatten, stretch and compress when he insults his brother, which is all the time.

The boys created Lisa (Vanessa Angel) to help them understand women. When faced with this problem, Lisa comes up short in her explanation of the female perspective. Gary (John Asher) and Wyatt (Michael Manasseri) get angry at their good-for-nothing genie. Lisa, in response, zaps them into beautiful teenage girls. They find themselves being checked out by half of the guys at school, chased by a football player and before long, out on a date with Chett (Lee Tergesen)! Can these two "lovely “ladies"” get through this adventure without learning a thing or two about the “"feminine mystique”?"

Gary (John Asher) craves the attention that being a member of Farber High's basketball team, the Buccaneers, would bring him. Lisa (Vanessa Angel) bewitches Coach Armstrong (Lyman Ward) at the tryouts; he raves at the boys' lame efforts, and Gary and an embarrassed Wyatt (Michael Manasseri) join the team. They both fake injuries to stay out of the first game, but Gary, unable to resist the moment, demands to play and loses the match. Several team members tell the boys to quit or else. When Principal Scampi (Bruce Jarchow) tells them to get off the team, Gary agrees and breaks the news to the coach. Coach Armstrong, still under Lisa's spell, refuses to let them leave and demands they play in the next game - the big one.
