When America Invaded Russia
In 1918, 5,000 U.S. soldiers were sent to fight the Soviet Red Army in Archangel, Russia. They endured brutal combat against Bolshevik forces in extreme cold, even after the November 11 armistice ended WWI. U.S. troops felt misled, frustrated, and outnumbered. By July 1919, over 200 soldiers had died.
