Morihito Otogi is a teenager with ogre strength. His childhood friend, Nico, is coming home after completing her witch training. Following an old pact, the two begin living together. Nico’s very excited to be reunited with Morihito— her heart won’t stop pounding! Can Morihito protect the “clumsy” Nico from her whirlwind of inescapable, magical troubles as well as a dire prophecy? Nico and Morihito’s living situation filled with “grim prospects” begins, but for Morihito, an even greater challenge awaits him. That’s right, Morihito and Nico both enrolled in Asunaro Private High School! With the two in the same class, Morihito pushes Nico to hide the fact that she’s a witch. But when Nico tries to sneakily use magic to help Morihito, she may accidentally spill all the beans!

Thanks to the acceptance from their peers, Nico and Morihito continue their everyday lives as a witch and an ogre. When Nico and Morihito are relaxing at home on the weekend, a package arrives from Nico’s mother, Ibuki. Attached is a letter addressed to Morihito that contains a new prophecy: “Dogs and raindrops will bring disaster.” Though Morhitio is a bit confused, he exercises caution. And then…

In order to protect Nico, the crow familiar Kanshi Kazamatsuri appears before Nico and Morihito. Kanshi is a tengu who lived in the mountains where Nico was undergoing training. Like Morihito, Ibuki asks Kanshi to protect Nico, but Kanshi sees the ogre Morihito as an enemy. Despite that, Kanshi will be moving in with Nico and Morihito?!

Nico and Morihito’s homeroom teacher, Ms. Makuwa, is a secret manga otaku. Her favorite series is “Uron Mirage,” also known as “U.M.” One day, she hears that one of her students, Kukumi Ureshino (a.k.a. Kuku), has been posting U.M. fanart on her Chitter. It seems like she has 10k followers and some of her art has gone viral. And as Ms. Makuwa predicted…

Nico is in panic mode since Morihito has gotten popular at school. Even Kanshi is able to recognize Nico’s feelings for Morihito, but Morihito remains as clueless as ever. However, Nico hears about a famous Lovers’ Tree at Mt. Futatsu, where her class will be going on a field trip. According to the rumor, if two people eat lunch together under that tree, they’ll become a couple. Kanshi encourages Nico to tell Morihito about her feelings.
