Peter Stebbings

Peter Stebbings is a Canadian actor who is usually seen in supporting roles, though he is also a writer and director. He studied acting at New York City's Circle in the Square Theater School in the 1980s and then returned to Canada to work. He landed small parts in a number of television shows being filmed there, including spots on the teen-oriented crime show "21 Jump Street," the program that first brought Johnny Depp to the attention of many viewers; the cop drama "Street Justice"; and "The X-Files." But it was the teenage drama "Madison" that put Stebbings on the radar. The program regularly dealt with the ups and downs of teenage life, including racism, teen pregnancy, accidental death, and more. He was nominated twice for Gemini Awards for his acting work on the show. Stebbings also played the unscrupulous investment banker Paul Deeds on the popular Canadian melodrama "Traders." Although he is most known for his television work, Stebbings can also be seen in Kathryn Bigelow's submarine thriller "K-19: The Widowmaker," in the romantic comedy "Jack and Jill vs. the World" (which he also wrote and produced), and in the fantasy epic "Immortals." He is also the writer and director of the superhero satire "Defendor," starring Woody Harrelson as a mentally disturbed man who believes that he's a superhero protecting the innocent.
