Jaume Collet-Serra

Jaume Collet-Serra was a Spanish director known for his horror movies and psychological thrillers. He was born in Sant Iscle de Vallalta, Spain. At age 18, he moved to Los Angeles, despite knowing very little English, to attend the film school Columbia College Hollywood. He started his film career as a commercial director, filming ads for such companies as Budweiser and PlayStation. Producer/director Joel Silver approached Collet-Serra to direct a remake of the 1953 horror film "House of Wax." Collet-Serra directed the remake in 2005, which starred Chad Michael Murray and Elisha Cuthbert and was a popular success. He went on to direct the psychological thrillers "Orphan" (2009), starring Peter Sarsgaard and Vera Farmiga, and "Unknown" (2011), starring Liam Neeson and Diane Kruger. In 2010, he founded his own production company Ombra Films, a platform to launch Spanish directors into the horror industry. Making his own transition to TV, Collet-Serra produced the short-lived horror series "The River" (ABC 2012) along with "Paranormal Activity" (2007) director Oren Peli. Working with Neeson again, as well as Julianne Moore, he directed the action film "Non-Stop" (2014), an action movie that takes place on an airplane and received mixed reviews. He went on to direct Neeson a third time in "Run All Night" (2014), a fast-paced mobster action film.
