Rowena King

Rowena King

Rowena King was a British film and television actress who was best known in the United States for her roles on "Shut Eye" (Hulu, 2016-17) and "Of Kings and Prophets" (ABC, 2016). Born in London and raised in the British county of Hertfordshire, King began her theatrical training as a young girl while attending Britain's Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. After graduation King went on to attend the Royal Shakespeare Company, where she had the rare opportunity to work with such celebrated British directors as Danny Boyle and Nicholas Hytner. Then in 1991, when she was 21, King nabbed her first film part in the British comedy-drama "London Kills Me" (1991). She continued nabbing roles in both films and television throughout the remainder of the decade, most notably in films like "Wide Sargasso Sea" (1993) and "The Turnaround" (1995), as well as the main part on the TV series "Tales of the South Seas" (Channel Ten, 1998-2000). By the mid-2000s King began appearing on more American film and TV shows, including "Fastlane" (Fox, 2002-03), "Grey's Anatomy" (ABC, 2005-), and the Rob Reiner directed comedy "The Bucket List" (2007), which also starred Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. Having worked steadily since the early 90s, King's acting career continued on its upward trajectory as the 2010s became the new decade. In addition to nabbing a recurring part on the ABC biblical drama "Of Kings and Prophets," she also appeared on the short-lived Hulu series "Shut Eye." Furthermore, King also landed parts in the ITV mini-series "Trauma" (ITV, 2018), as well as on the AMC comedy series "Dietland" (AMC, 2018-), the latter of which was based on a popular book by Sarai Walker.
