Milly has a bad cough. The Professor puts her to bed, Black Cat plays nurse and the doctor prescribes the Nasty Medicine. She can't sleep and she's so bored. The Professor gives her some Hot-to-Cold Rubber to play with.

Milly has Humpy the school hamster to look after. She and Sam are fussing over him and Black Cat is jealous. 'Accidentally' she lets him out and he vanishes. Milly and Sam are desperate...

The Professor's doing the washing and half of Milly's sock pairs are missing. He sends her to hunt for them but looking for lost socks is so boring she adapts one of his inventions into a Lost Sock Detector.
