Iris relocates to London for a radical reboot. Leaving behind her family and a half-finished degree at a top-tier university, she begins a double life: working as a neuro researcher at an elusive tech startup, NGM, while providing the girlfriend experience for clients at night.

Iris, under the identity of "Cassie", gets better at simulating the perfect girlfriend experience for her clients. Simultaneously at NGM, Iris and her co-workers start training the AI model with new simulated sets. More than one line gets crossed in the process and Iris' two worlds begin to collide.

Iris' client relationships seem increasingly uncanny, and advice from Tawny isn't what Iris was hoping for. Her father's illness catches up with Iris in undeniable ways. Efforts to escape this new reality leave Iris feeling progressively exposed.

Iris can't keep her two worlds separate anymore, which comes with unwanted consequences. Her boss at NGM, Christophe, urges Iris to see their AI work in a different light. The neural net still has a long way to go. Iris realizes she's in a position of power, while simultaneously having lost all control.

Buying time, Iris escapes the messy leftovers of her double life and goes off-grid; Georges, a former client, takes Iris into his world.
