The cooks compete in the first Service Challenge of the season. Two teams, aided by mentors Matt Sinclair and Sashi Cheliah, must cook an entrée and a main course dish for thirty diners.

Guest chef Curtis Stone joins contestants for an off-site Team Challenge. Teams must prepare a six-course degustation menu for 50 guests to avoid the Elimination Challenge.

The contestants from the losing pub lunch challenge team must correctly name an ingredient to avoid the elimination cook-off challenge, as the contestant with the least impressive dish will go home.

The team challenge is all about the pub lunch. The contestants are split into two teams and must cook three courses for 70 people with Marco Pierre White running the pass.

The contestants are sent on an off-site team challenge to mark the celebration of Chinese New Year and are joined by guest mentor, Kylie Kwong. Each team must prepare two set-price Asian street food dishes and sell them to the public.

The competition goes to California for the week. Armed with only a map, contestants track down mystery box ingredients from local shops.
