Bear Grylls: Mission Survive

Eight celebrities arrive at base camp in Costa Rica and discuss what they expect to encounter. They jump from a helicopter into water, and Bear tells them what he's looking for in a survivor.

Tensions mount as the celebrities work their way down a ravine through dense jungle. They finally reach camp, where they'll spend the night, only to find live scorpions on the dinner menu.

Bear is putting eight celebrities to the test, as they face a 12-day survival mission unlike anything they've ever experienced before. To stay alive they must learn to navigate difficult terrain, build shelter, and eat food that nature provides.

On this part of the mission Bear is particularly looking for the celebrities to be cheerful in the face of adversity, an essential characteristic for a 'Survivor'. They are transported by military truck to a nearby two-mile cave system. Bear meets them andoffers them breakfast,providing amedicinal boost before sending them into the caves - a big dose of zinc. The zinc, of course, comes from a jungle source - in this case, tarantulas.

In this penultimate section of their journey the four strong celebrity expedition team must find and eat the fruits of the forest, survive another stormy night and face their most extreme challenge yet -crossing a 200ft ravine on a rope. Bear also tests the celebrities' ability to start a fire before deciding who will be the final three to go forward to the Mission Survive final. The already exhausted, hungry, and mentally-drained expedition team wake up to bad news: no more rations.

Now there are only three celebrities left, and they must fight it out to be crowned Bear's Mission Survivor. They must also build their camp using only what the jungle provides them, eat rats for dinner, and face Bear's most extreme challenges yet. Bear takes the contestants, one by one, to the top of a 90m waterfall which they each must abseil down.
